On December 14, 1837, the British bombarded the church.
The facade still bears the scars to this day.
One of our Daoust Family connection to this rebellion is the following:
Francois Daoust was on the list of the 221 Patriots that were imprisoned for high treason following their participation in the Rebellion of December 14 and 15, 1837 in St Eustache and St Benoit. He was 19 years old and was listed as a farmer. The year after the rebellion in 1838, he married Josette Grignon, the daughter of Francois Grignon and Josephte Deneau (Denault). One of her sisters was Agnes who married Augustin Daoust (the 3rd one!) in 1867, one of our ancestral grandparents! ... so Francois was an uncle (our father, Jean Guy Daoust's great uncle!!).

François Daoust était sur la liste des 221 patriotes emprisonnés pour haute trahison suite à sa participation à la révolte du 14 et 15 décembre 1837 à St-Eustache et St-Benoit. Il était un cultivateur alors âgé de 19 ans. Un an après cette révolution de 1838, il épousa Josette Grignon, fille de Francois Grignon et de Josephte Deneau (Denault). Une de ses soeurs prénommée Agnès s'est mariée à Augustin Daoust (le troisième! ) en 1867. Ils sont nos aïeux! ... Alors François était un oncle, grand-oncle de notre père Jean Guy Daoust!
